A heavy rainfall warning is still in effect for the Windsor region after a record rainfall was recorded Thursday.
Geoff Coulson, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, said the weather station at the Windsor Airport set a single day rainfall record after 63.4 millimetres of precipitation was registered, drowning out the old record for Sept. 29 of 36.8 mm set in 1973.
Another weather warning was issued early Friday morning as “several rounds of showers and thunderstorms” were expected to bring 20 to 5o millimetres more rain to the area.
According to the warning, rainfall amounts since Wednesday evening have ranged from 85 mm at the airport to 150 mm measured in Tecumseh.
