The soggy summer is about to turn into a soggy fall for Southwestern Ontario, according to AccuWeather.com senior meterologist Brett Anderson.
Anderson said we can blame a Bermuda high pressure system off Canada’s East Coast, which has been pumping humid air across the country and causing more rainfall than usual. The system is starting to break down, he said, but not before some more wet weather.
“Based on what we’re seeing right now, the second half of September through a good chunk of October does look wetter than normal,” Anderson said. Windsorites can expect the weather to dry up and cool down in November, however.
Don’t get too upset, though — meteorologists failed to predict this summer’s record rainfall. Who knows — maybe they’re wrong this time, too, and we can all put the umbrellas away as students head back to school.
July was the wettest in Windsor’s history, with 21 rainy days. The stretch from April to August has been the wettest Windsor has seen in 70 years.
The good news, however, is that we can expect the rain to bring warmer temperatures than normal along with it. ”We’re done with that really hot, sticky, steamy stuff, but overall the pattern does look warmer than normal,” Anderson said.
