Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain in Windsor and Essex County, Environment Canada says.
Scattered thunderstorms are forecast to develop Friday afternoon ahead of an approaching disturbance. Sunny breaks and warmer temperatures should add fuel to any thunderstorms that develop. Hail, along with strong wind gusts to 90 km/h, and heavy rainfall to 50 mm are the main threats.
Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
