Bundle up, Windsor and Essex County — the area is about to plunge into a deep freeze.
Environment Canada has issued a cold weather warning for the region as the mercury is forecasted to dip between -20 and -30C.
The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit has also issued an extreme cold weather alert for the area.
The strong cold front is crossing southern Ontario and will usher in the colder temperatures and gusty north winds.
Environment Canada said wind chills of -30 to -35C are expected overnight and into Friday morning.
The cold temperatures bring with them a greater risk of frost bite and hypothermia.
People are reminded to wear appropriate clothing.
