A cold weather alert has been issued by the local health unit for Windsor and Essex County, where temperatures are expected to drop to -17C overnight. The alert remains in effect until Friday.
The temperature hovered around zero about 10 a.m. Wednesday but was forecast to plunge overnight.
The high Thursday will be -9C and the high Friday will be -3C, according to Environment Canada.
There is a 60 per cent chance for snow Saturday, with a high of -3C and a 60 per cent chance of snow Sunday, with a high of -5C.
