It’s going to get warmer in Windsor and Essex County this weekend — but also more dangerous. Weather watchers with Environment Canada have issued a freezing rain warning for the region.
The crummy weather is expected to hit early Saturday morning, with a couple hours of freezing rain that should change into normal rain as the temperature increases.
Residents are advised to be wary of icy and slippery surfaces — including highways, roadways, walkways and parking lots — throughout the morning.
Motorists should be prepared to adjust their driving habits in accordance with the conditions.
The areas of Chatham-Kent and Sarnia will also be affected by the freezing rain.
As of 4 p.m. Friday, the 24-hour forecast predicted an overnight low of -6 C (21 F), rising to a Saturday daytime high of 8 C (46 F).
The rain and drizzle will likely continue into late Saturday night.
Southwest winds are expected to reach 30 km/h.
