Environment Canada issued a heat warning and severe thunderstorm watch for Windsor and Essex County today.
The national weather agency said conditions were favourable for “the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, damaging hail and heavy rain. There was also a risk of a tornado.”
The watch warned of severe thunderstorms possibly starting late morning and continuing until evening.
The heat warning advised people to take precautions against rising temperatures.
The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit had issued a level one heat alert.
A warm and humid airmass will blanketed the region Tuesday with temperatures soaring to 32C with a humidex value of 40 or higher.
