Medical Officer of Health Dr. Allen Heimann has issued a cold weather alert for Windsor-Essex County that will be in effect overnight Sunday into the afternoon Tuesday.
Environment Canada is predicting the latest blast of winter will send overnight temperatures plunging to -18 C on Sunday and -20 C on Monday without the wind chill.
Area residents are advised to take extra care to keep warm to avoid frostbite and hypothermia.
